Most international car rental companies require a credit card and place a deposit hold of USD 500 to USD 1,500 on your account for the duration of the rental. This can be inconvenient if you are travelling on a budget or prefer to keep your credit limit available for other expenses. 4Drive was founded specifically to remove these barriers.
We accept payment by debit card or cash. We do not block any funds on your card. There is no security deposit. Instead, we include comprehensive insurance cover in every rental at no extra charge - collision damage waiver, third party liability, theft protection. The insurance excess is waived when you choose the full cover option at booking. You simply pay the agreed daily rate, pick up the car, and drive away.
This no-deposit, no-credit-card model is possible because we operate as a direct provider with our own fleet. We manage the vehicles in-house, handle claims internally, and have developed efficient processes that keep costs down. All cars are regularly serviced and inspected. We replace tyres seasonally - winter tyres are fitted from November to March on vehicles heading to the mountains. Every rental includes unlimited mileage within Georgia, so you can explore freely without worrying about distance charges.

The minimum age to rent is 21 years for economy and compact cars, and 23 years for SUVs and 4x4 vehicles. Drivers under 25 may be subject to a young driver fee of USD 5 per day, depending on the vehicle category. There is no maximum age limit.
Georgia uses right-hand traffic - you drive on the right side of the road. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on rural roads, and 110 km/h on the main Tbilisi to Batumi highway (E60). Traffic police are present on major routes and speed cameras are in use, particularly around Tbilisi.
The road network is generally good. The Tbilisi to Batumi highway, the road to Kutaisi, and the Georgian Military Highway to Gudauri and Kazbegi are all paved and well maintained. Secondary roads to small towns and villages may be narrower with occasional potholes. Mountain roads are steep and winding - drive carefully and allow extra time. In winter (December to March), snow and ice can affect high-altitude routes, so winter tyres or chains are essential if you are heading to Gudauri or Kazbegi.
Parking in Tbilisi and Batumi is paid in the city centre - look for blue zone signs indicating paid parking areas. You pay via SMS or mobile app. Outside the main cities, parking is usually free. Petrol stations are common along major routes, but less frequent in the mountains - fill up before driving to remote areas such as Tusheti or upper Svaneti.

Booking is straightforward. Use the search form on our homepage to enter your pickup location (Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi), dates and times. You will see a list of available cars with transparent daily rates - what you see is what you pay, including all insurance and unlimited mileage. Select the car you want, add any extras such as a child seat or GPS, and complete the booking form with your details.
We accept online payment by debit card (Visa or Mastercard). You can also choose to pay cash on arrival - in that case, you will receive a payment link or instructions by email after booking. We do not ask for a credit card or place any hold on your account.
Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive an email with your rental voucher, pickup instructions and our emergency contact number. If your travel plans change, you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup - just send us an email or call our office.
Our main office is in Tbilisi and we have representatives at Tbilisi Airport (TBS), Kutaisi Airport (KUT) and Batumi Airport (BUS). Office hours are 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saturday. Airport desks are open to meet all scheduled flight arrivals.

We are expanding our fleet and adding more pickup points across Georgia. In 2024, we plan to open a desk in Borjomi to serve visitors heading to the spa town and the nearby ski resort of Bakuriani.
